To help potential buyers understand the home buying process and learn how to maximize their home purchase resources, the City of Alexandria is sponsoring its 14th Annual Homeownership Fair on Saturday, April 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at George Washington Middle School, 1005 Mt. Vernon Ave. This location offers ample parking and easy access to both Metrorail and Metrobus services.

The City’s Homeownership Fair will feature local real estate professionals, lenders, and housing counselors who can help buyers along the path to homeownership. These representatives can assist potential buyers in finding the right home, shopping for an affordable mortgage loan, and identifying and addressing possible pitfalls in the purchase process.

For persons interested in purchasing a home in Alexandria, the Homeownership Fair provides an invaluable opportunity to gather a range of information in one location at no cost. Last year’s fair attracted over 350 potential homebuyers who took advantage of the Fair’s information booths and homeownership seminars. Seminars are offered in both English and Spanish, and cover a range of topics critical to the first-time homebuyer.

Purchasers participating in the City of Alexandria’s homeownership programs can take advantage of free housing counseling services. The counseling program features a group training, followed by two hours of individual counseling. The City’s Office of Housing can provide additional information on all training and financial assistance resources available to residents.
I thought this was kind of cool if you’re new to the area, thinking about being new to the area or know someone who is…… new to the area. It’s from The Washington Post.

Check it out here.

"The most valuable things in life are not measured in monetary terms. It’s not...

I look more like something out of Narnia, huh? It’s not real fur. Oh well, but, anyway… welcome to my blog. Thought I’d throw a photo up there so you at least know who you’re talking to.

I’m Bobi (pronounced BOB-eee) Bomar. I only use one ‘b’ because I like to do my part with conservation. It’s tough times in the market these days and a lot of conversations with clients, friends and family have sparked me to start this page to create a transparent dialogue about what’s really going on, specifically in my hometown of Del Ray, Alexandria, VA. If you found your way here via the intertubes from Portland, I won’t be much help but maybe you’ll consider visiting our fantastic town one day.

WELL, WHY SHOULD WE LISTEN TO YOU WHEN I COULD BE READING THE ONION?

Right? Well, I live here, too. Have since they were sweeping Jimmy Carter’s peanut shells out of the Oval Office. I raised my family here. Long story longer, I’m invested in my investment. And, of course, full disclosure: I’m a Real Estate Agent with Weichert, Realtors. I keep my focus on where I live, what I know and the nooks and crannies of our community.

Ugh, right now I’ve gotta run because Barkley is looking at me like his leash is collecting dust. I’ll be back on in a bit to talk about some things happening in the market and how this affects us in Alexandria and Del Ray. In the meantime, please feel free to share your thoughts by emailing me here. The comments portion of the blog isn’t quite ready yet. Thanks for stopping by! Don’t touch that dial…..
